Finance Power: How To Easily Control The Mind of an Investor
December 30, 2009 at 6:45 pm

By James Scott

Discovering the 'thumbscrews' of investors is crucial to getting them to take action. In over a decade of dealing with global investors there are several elements that I've discovered to be universal truths about the mind of the private investor (angel investor, accredited investor).

When talking to an investor for the first time, it's more important to listen than to speak. It's more important to ask questions than answer them. It's more important to discover their needs and wants than to exclaim your own. Your first conversation with an investor should be all about piercing the armor and finding the trigger points that prompt a reaction that gets to the center of their 'childlike' state.

What I mean by this is, investors, just like anyone else, has insecurities that are rooted in their childhood and what they are outwardly today, is typically a polar opposite of what they are on the inside. For example, an arrogant, chest beater seems proud and obnoxious on the outside but the reality is that they are over compensating for an insecurity that is rooted in an individual or collection of childhood incidents.

Maybe they were made fun of as a child, maybe they're father was verbally abusive, maybe their teachers would single them out in class opening them up to playground mockery. When talking to these individuals it's important to listen to their voice and intonation when the conversation topic changes. Take notes on their psychological adjustments to the conversation. After you feel you have discovered the triggers that induce the 'pleasurable' responses, end the call, and set your second phone appointment with them.

On that second call, you want to have your conversation ready to go using the triggers you found in the first conversation. Play off of those insecurities that you found, become their best friend without being chummy but it is your mission on this call to be the "guy that understand me" to the investor. You want the overall tone of this conversation to have the response from your target along the theme of, "wow, this guy gets me" , "I can see investing in this company".

By using this method and not coming across as 'fake', you have become an investment opportunity and a shrink all rolled into one. You want to be the one person that this investor can lower his guard to because everything he says, you seem to be the one person who understands him at his deepest level. You seem to naturally be tuned into his insecurities, emotions, needs and wants. Sound strange? Try this out on the next investor you talk to, I guaranty you will be shocked with the results. - 23596

Windows 7 - Better Or Worse Than Vista?
December 29, 2009 at 6:24 pm

By Julie Johnson

Honestly, could it be any worse than Vista was or whatever name they decided to call it in the end. No matter how they changed the name the concept just didn't work well. Maybe it did in theory but the actualization of it lost a little something. And with scarcely a month under its belt, what are users saying about this latest product in the Microsoft lineup? Well, some of the bugs are still being squashed but being that it is coming on the heels of Windows Vista; it has got to look pretty darn good to those who are trading in that for Windows 7.

Before the official launch of Windows 7, Microsoft did a test with a sample set of users to make sure they were not going to receive the same negative backlash they received with Vista. The users were comprised of individuals who used Windows for personal use only (61% of the testers), individuals who used Windows both personally and professionally (25 % of the testers) and individuals who used Windows strictly professionally (14% of the testers). The individuals who were tested also represented users who were installing Windows 7 on a PC that already had Vista, and users where Windows 7 was the only operating system ever installed on that PC.

The results of this testing were very good for Microsoft and Windows 7. Only a very small fraction of the testers has trouble with the installation of Windows 7, which is to be expected when you are installing any new operating system onto a PC. The one area of the installation which caused the most issues for the testers was compatibility with drivers and other software, which again is to be expected when installing a new operating system. A handful of the testers did end up having their computer crash during the installation process, however the percentage of users who encountered this was very small. This testing helped Microsoft prove that the installation of Windows 7 is significantly better than the Windows Vista installation, and the very small number of issues that arose during testing should not be a concern for consumers.

After the installation portion of the testing, the users then began to use the Windows 7 operating system, and were able to see the vast improvements that Microsoft made when compared to Windows Vista. The test results were overwhelmingly supportive of Windows 7. When the test scores were compiled, only 5% of the testers said they were unsatisfied with Windows 7, compared to almost half of the testers for Vista who were unsatisfied. Clearly Windows 7 is a significant improvement to Vista.

Windows 7 is a great operating system, and if you are currently using Windows Vista you will probably want to upgrade to 7 as soon as possible. Windows 7 of course has some bugs, which is to be expected, but Microsoft is pushing updated out as soon as they are available. There is no question that Windows 7 is a far superior operating system to Windows Vista, and it is probably the best system that Microsoft has ever released. - 23596

Ideas For Press Releases
December 28, 2009 at 6:43 pm

By Brock Hamilton

Have you heard all of the buzz going around about press releases but are not exactly sure how this can benefit you and your company? Then you need to read this article and discover some of the ideas that people will write a press release about. Many people are lost when it comes time to write their press release and don't have a clue about what to make as their topic for a press release.

Back when it was hoped that a press release would be picked up by a member of the press and published so that thousands of people would be able to see this and decide to go and visit your business. This basic concept is still in place, but these days it is a more effective tool that is used in the world of marketing your business. These days anybody can put out a press release about anything that is going on at their company.

If you are sitting there and saying that you have nothing to write about in your press release then you are mistaken and taking the wrong approach to the whole thing completely. Stop putting your press release into a pre-fit box and instead let it be more of a news article, this approach will allow you to have a better perspective as to what to put in your press release. The following are just a couple of ideas that you will be able to use in your press releases.

1. Maybe you are announcing a new venture in your company. This would be the ideal place and method upon which to announce this.

2. Are you ready to launch a new product line? The a press release is ideal for such an announcement. Making the announcement of a new partnership between two individuals and or companies.

3. If your company has received an award in the recent weeks or months.

4. maybe you and you company are offering a series of articles for publishing and are wanting to announce this.

These are just a few of the things that you will want to publish a press release for as these are milestones in your company and you will want to share all of these with the rest of the world.

Press releases are a wonderful way to get the message that you have out to the public and to let them know that an event in your company has recently occurred and therefore you are making an announcement as such. - 23596

How to Make Your Home Page Work For You to Get More Clients Online - Online Copywriting
December 26, 2009 at 6:49 pm

By Veronica Carrillo

Many service professionals wonder if the Internet really can work for them to attract more clients and sell more information products. The answer is yes... IF you have a process and understand how visitors approach your own website. The truth is, your online copywriting begins with your home page. When prospective clients first arrive on your website, you have to offer three critical pieces of information to move them from visitors to prospects.

Wanting to do it on a shoe string budget isn't a bad thing, but it will require more work on your part than using a paid method.

One of the first things I tell online marketers to do is setup a blog for your main niche topic and post to it on a regular basis. This will get you credibility as well as a following through your RSS feeds. Blogs alone will not get you success, but generally speaking they will get noticed on the search engines a lot sooner than a static website.

Article marketing is another awesome way to drive people to your blog or your website. I suggest you write at least 3 articles a week until you start seeing the results you're after. Articles posted to article directories are going to be beneficial to you in more ways than one. First it gives you a high valued incoming link helping your site climb in the search ranks and it will also drive targeted traffic to your website.

show that you work with people they can relate to. When people consider hiring a professional, they want to believe that you won't be surprised or shocked at anything they ask. They don't want to stand out among your clients. One key area is related to wealth. A senior executive earning several hundred thousand dollars a year will be very different from a starving artist or a struggling new business owner. He will want to sense that you recognize where he's coming from and know how to deal with people at his level.

These simple website traffic secrets are some of the most powerful ways to get your site flowing with traffic on a daily basis and the best part is it doesn't have to cost you a dime. - 23596
